Effective July 1, Services for Students with Disabilities will be known as Access and Disability Resources.

Do you work with students with physical, medical, psychological or learning-related disabilities who would benefit from academic accommodations in their post-secondary studies?

Please share this important information with your students planning to attend MacEwan University:

  • MacEwan University welcomes students with disabilities and offers a range of services, information, and resources!
  • Students will have to meet with a learning specialist with Access and Disability Resources (ADR) to arrange accommodations even if they do not have documentation.
  • ADR recommends that students have their first meeting well in advance of starting classes. Ideally, this means two to four months before the start of the term. It takes time to prepare an accommodation and service plan.
  • Students are expected to provide documentation of their disability to ADR. As per university policy, documentation must meet these requirements: a) be completed by a licensed professional in the relevant field, b) describe functional effects and c) reflect current functioning.
  • MacEwan does not automatically receive information about students from high schools or Alberta Education.
  • Accommodations may be provided on a short-term basis if the student needs time to obtain the necessary documentation.
If you have any questions about assisting a student with a disability in transitioning to MacEwan University and setting up accommodations, visit MacEwan.ca/SSD to find more information and to schedule an appointment with a learning specialist.
